With the Rio Olympics on the horizon there is no better time to get active and to get fit.
Register for the 8 week Road to Rio activity challenge and be part of ‘TeamBradfordonAvon’ – the first 200 to Sign up here can claim a free pedometer!
Registration for the challenge is open and the challenge itself runs from 4 June – 29 July
Participation is easy. To take part all you need to do is register and you will be given a username and password for the Big Pledge website. On this site all you need to do is enter the miles you swim, run, cycle or row and it will keep track of your total mileage. There are set distances to cover for individuals taking part to reach bronze, silver or gold level. For groups participating the total mileage will take them on a route from the Olympic Stadium in London, via a number of Olympic host cities, ending up at the venue for the 2016 summer Olympics, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
All individual and group entrants will also be allocated to one of the 18 community areas around the county, based on the post code entered at the time of registration. This means Bradford on Avon – and the local villages of Holt, Limpley Stoke, Monkton Farleigh, South Wraxall, Staverton, Westwood, Wingfield and Winsley – will be competing against other communities such as Melksham, Trowbridge and Corsham.
Bradford has a proud record of producing Olympians and Paralympians – Ed McKeever (Sprint Kayak), Hannah Brown (Sprint Canoe), Philip Marsh (Fencing), Jonah Wright (Boccia) among them.
Across Wiltshire 3880 people have already registered to take part in this year’s Big Pledge activity challenge, with less than 3 weeks to go until it all begins.
Remember – if you want to register for the 8 week activity challenge and be part of ‘TeamBradfordonAvon’ –- the first 200 to Sign up here can claim a free pedometer!
